Live music at Old Town Roses

(That's Beijing)

Live music at Old Town RosesWhile the restaurant attached to Old Town Roses is by no means new, the bar itself is and opens this month with a promise from German owner Astrid Gelbrich of live latin music.

Inside, a bar counter accompanied by high stools greets guests, who can find further seating deeper into the venue. Here a large stage dominates, from which punters can enjoy reasonably priced drinks (RMB 15 for beers) around the lower tables that flank the area. Live music will be played from Tuesday to Saturday and a DJ is on hand to fill any awkward silences left in the bands' absence.

With Beijing experiencing a veritable assault of new live music venues, Old Town Roses is a welcome addition to the fold, though time will tell if its bookings can yield a success that has eluded so many Beijing bars in the past.
