*Nashville

Founded in 1996, this bar made its name as a top bar in Beijing, which continued as it was relocated to a two-story building on Lucky Street last December. This is one of the places foreign expats throw back a few favourite cold ones, and the Chinese discover new beers to try.

Nashville was the first to stock beer that cost more than 1,000 yuan (US$125) a barrel. Looking back, it can be said that the bar's seemingly bold endeavour to stock new types of beer was great foresight.

The bar makes an effort to promote specials from its selection of Belgian, British, Irish, and German beers. Some examples are Beamish, a Belgian black beer, Bodington, a British beer, New Castle, which is dubbed "the dog" among English people, and Samuel Adams, a Boston lager.

The bar's more than 40 beers come from more than 10 countries, including one from Russia.

Bodington, Guinness, Hoegaarden, Tsingdao and Tiger are available on draft.

Foods to accompany the beers include sandwiches, grilled chicken wings, grilled steak and beef hamburgers. The bar has live musical performances every day a Filipino guitar singer is performing pop music on weekdays, blues take over on Friday, and country music blares on Saturday.
