Being a perfect Parisian(That's Shanghai )
Updated: 2006-10-08 12:00 Le Magnolier's soft lighting and gentle cabaret tunes form the perfect romantic backdrop for sharing some extravagantly buttery escargot (RMB 65) served on a puff pastry base. Those with a love of spectacle can watch their waiter ceremoniously torch a tender sirloin flambe (RMB 250) before deglazing the pan at their table. The pork filet (RMB 180) is just as delicious, if less flamboyant-tender cuts of meat in a fruity wine and prune sauce. Sadly, our meal didn't end on such a high note. After bemoaning the conspicuous absence of creme brlee on a French dessert menu, we tucked into the Amaretto truffle cake (RMB 60) only to find a grainy consistency and harsh aftertaste. Le Magnolier has all the ingredients for a perfect Parisian bistro except one-a proper French pastry chef. Food: 3/ Service: 3/ Atmosphere: 4/Cost for two (excluding drinks): RMB 535 |
