For more intimate clubbing

Though it's small, there's no danger of missing Mini Club thanks to the massive signage denoting its whereabouts deep inside Gongti Nanmen.

Tucked in between Coco Banana and the backsides of Gongti Xilu's mega club contingent, Mini's mission statement is to offer a more intimate clubbing experience. By this the management can only mean that there's not much room and there's no dancefloor. Yet in spite of the fact there isn't anywhere to boogie, house music is relentlessly blasted into the main bar area ensuring punters can forget about conversation and concentrate on shaking dice or ordering overpriced drinks.

Mini Club does have some mildly redeeming aspects. The KTV rooms starting at RMB 1,180 look smart enough, while relatively pleasant outdoor seating and the quieter conservatory-bar area provides a view of the canal, a bunch of trees and, well, construction-this is Beijing after all.

While Mini aims to divert some new-money from the coffers of Babyface and Angel, it doesn't provide anything new to entice its intended clientele, affirming, perhaps, that size really does matter.
