Set over three floors, China Doll is more or less a complete reincarnation of defunct nightspot Cloud Nine in everything but name. Brought to Tongli Studios by actress and entrepreneur Ai Wan, China Doll boasts a unique aesthetic appeal, courtesy of design company Epic. The theme is sub-aquatic, featuring photographer Chen Xuren's pictures of skinny-dipping lovelies, while painter Shen Ling takes responsibility for the equally provocative images adorning the lampshades dotted around the second floor.

"What you see [in the club] purposely contradicts the stereotypical perceptions of China and the Chinese,"says Events and Marketing Manager Mary Liu. "We want to provide a platform for Beijing's popular culture." Just as at Cloud Nine, DJ Youdai will assume the mantle of music director, ensuring that China Doll is more than just a pretty face.
