As fashion temperatures rise, the mattitude begins to cool.

The fashion landscape for the 2007 spring and summer seasons is a jungle of shapes and colors, where getting lost can be luxurious.

A hint from olden times still exists, but it is mixed in fresh details. For example, in the Boss Orange Womenswear for spring/summer 2007, there is a touch of the 1950s in their design, but always with a modern edge, and fresh with unexpected clashes. Aline little 19 50s - style jackets come in ramie,viscose and cotton. Short little blazers with very deep revers are fas- tened with one big button. Linen jackets with glazed surfaces have clean shapes but patchwork fabrics.

Waistlines are also a highlight this season. Pretty waistcoats are cut to flatter. Pretty dresses and skirts, including a high-waisted Aline skirt, respond to fashion's shift of focus to the high waist.

Feminine details are applied in most of the big labels: Ferragamo provides patent leather sandals with mirror-like heels, exquisite embroidery in tops, striking belts wrap around delicate waists. Then comes DKNY's ribbons, beads,pleats or raw-edged. On the bottom,there's a choice of walking shorts or sexy skirts in lace or silk with a mesh overlay.

A mix of feminine and masculine tailoring makes the season fashion full of fun too. Sweet jersey empire-line dresses come with balloon skirts. Stripped polo shirts are made fresh with very wide plackets. Open eyelet halterneck dresses are a treat to wear over jeans.

In the color palette, a little difference from previous years is that black still exists. Dark black jackets are widely seen. Neutral colors, like sand and mud, dashes of fuchsia and amaranth red, sophisticated harmonies in lemon yellow, and hot pinks are favored by designers. Pleated skirts in palm leaf, frond printed silks in greys and beiges for fresh jersey dresses add to the mixture of fun.
