Continental modernity(That's Shanghai)Updated: 2007-04-24 09:25 Arugula meticulously executes what might otherwise seem a tired concept-mid-priced continental cuisine in a modern dining environment. Our delicious and deceptively potent green apple margarita (RMB 50) was an apt prelude to dinner: creative and playful, but with serious focus on quality. The meal itself was superb: the stuffed salmon fillet (RMB 105) and grilled lamb chops (RMB 85) were both tender and perfectly seasoned, and served with innovative presentation. Moreover, the Saltimbocca (RMB 68), handmade gnocchi pasta with veal, proved an unexpected delight: the bold, almost smoky flavor perfectly complemented the delicate cream sauce and was satisfying without being heavy. The genuine hospitality of the staff (and oversized velvet dining chairs) tempted us to linger over after-dinner cocktails, enjoying good conversation and Arugula's charming atmosphere. Arugula |
