Continental cafe cultureBy Oliver Robinson (That's beijing)
Updated: 2007-05-15 10:00 Serving coffee and crepes by day and fine wine by night, Chateau Blanc brings a touch of continental cafe culture to the foot of Zhonglou. The man to thank for this unlikely cultural unison is Tim He. Inspired by eight years of living, traveling and working in France, Beijing-born He decided to bring a little bit of the place back with him.
The menu is very much a work in progress, as is the bar as a whole, which He hopes to expand through the course of May. It is hoped that the neighboring space will be converted, extending the indoor bar area twofold. In another month's time Chateau Blanc will open its roof terrace - great news for sun worshipers, but even better news for those who want to enjoy one of the best vantage points Beijing has to offer.
