All things Arabian

(That's beijing)

Sangria Bar is the latest brainchild of Beijing bar stalwart Bai Feng, the man behind the ever-popular Souk, whose love affair with all things Arabian continues here.

The two-level tavern in a cavern has an ambience all the way from Andalusia, with the dark wood, plants and blinds giving it an earthy air befitting of such a subterranean setting. The bridge over a fishpond is another nice touch. While the bar feels very Moorish, the house specials are suitably more-ish - very agreeable sangria (RMB 30, RMB 100 by the jug) and the exotic Absala (RMB 30). Sangria also offers 14 German beers (RMB 25-45) in addition to its extensive tapas menu. The music adds to the feel of southern Spain, though it may have some pining for a real life mariachi to serenade their senors or senoritas. Jonathan White
