Bank on it

Those lucky enough to have experienced the heyday of Club 7 on Nuren Jie, know that Chinese clubbing is not all Chivas and green tea sweetened with vanilla techno. For Ivan Zhang, manager of the defunct club, it was where the party raged all night long.

But times change. Club 7 is now an Indian restaurant and Zhang is now the creative force behind The Bank, the most highly anticipated club opening of the year.

Very public false starts ironically afforded Zhang the time to make The Bank into a real clubber's club. It spreads over four floors, two of them outside, with endless nooks to get lost in. With resident DJs Gaohu, Terry Tu and Jackson Lee spinning nightly, top name DJs in and from abroad like Loco Dice on July 14, The Bank is pure gold for the local dance scene.
