Time for the lanes(That's Shanghai)
Updated: 2007-07-16 09:34 With its ultra-white interior and soft seating, Nongtang Time offers an expansive selection of Shanghainese and Cantonese dishes in a modern, if somewhat stark setting. Our lunch started on a sour note, when our pleasant but ill-trained waiter served the unpalatable Nongtang fried herring (RMB 28) drowned in a sweet, gooey dark sauce. From then on, though, the meal recovered; the steamed chicken feet in bean sauce (RMB12) was probably one of the best we've had, boasting an exceptional flavor and texture. Also exceeding our expectations was the red pork in a clay pot (RMB 28) which appeared oily, but tasted quite delicate. Overall, while the dim sum is above average, Nongtang Time probably is not a good place to bring a date-unless yours happens to enjoy the aroma of stinky tofu. Nongtang Time(time for the lanes) |
