A nice Korean eatery(That's Shanghai)Updated: 2007-07-18 09:35 In Korean, gammiok means 'a place that serves sweet-flavored dishes'. And indeed, Gammiok's yak bop (sticky rice mixed with jujube, honey and nuts) and sujunghua (cinnamon-flavored drink) were both sweet-and very good. But this restaurant, with outlets in South Korea and New York, is best known for its hearty seol long tang (beef soup with noodles, RMB 40). And with its intense aroma and flavor, ours was just a pinch of salt away from perfection. The bibimpab (hotpot rice with vegetables, RMB 30) was also a winner, featuring fresh meats and vegetables. And while our kimchi pancakes (RMB 30) were short on kimchi, the reasonable service and elegant, traditional decor made this shortcoming easy to forgive. In short, this is a great place to enjoy authentic Korean food without breaking the bank. Gammiok |
