Tango's newest incarnation

Deep beneath the Gongti 100 bowling behemoth lies Tango's newest incarnation. The scale of the place – 39 variously priced and sized private rooms to cater for some 400 plus patrons – makes it seem like a combination of the KTV fraternity and Beijing's fabled Underground City, but much swankier. While the entrance foyer suggests a Hugh Hefner sanctioned airport lounge (also inspired by the iPod), the private rooms themselves give the impression of a luxury liner. The choice of music is as esoteric as one might expect, taking in such luminaries as ABBA and Perry Como via choice boy-band ballads. As always, the accompanying videos are the real highlight, seemingly pilfered from the promotional stocks of Eastern European nations. In addition to the non-stop singsong fun there is a hearty free buffet and Internet, plus reasonably priced drinks (Tsingtao RMB 20), to keep even the most reticent of warblers amused.
