Let's go DutchBy Peggy Rosen (City Weekend)
Updated: 2007-08-02 10:13 This cozy little bar and grill is reminiscent of New York circa 1990s–stark white, simple but tastefully decorated with a smattering of colorful tulips and an obligatory Van Gogh as wall decor.
The Western food tastes homemade, and various Dutch dishes complete a well-rounded eclectic menu. We tried the Dutch fries with our happy hour beers (two for one, RMB 30)–a must try. The fries are topped with a mixture of mayonnaise, peanut sauce, curry ketchup and diced onions. Outstanding grilled chicken wings (RMB 30) and the not-so-usual authentic German sausage bratwurst (RMB 60), served with salad, sauerkraut, potato pancake and gravy, were exceptionally satisfying.
Portions are ample and, though stuffed, we had to try the Dutch pancake with rum raisins and ice cream (RMB 20) for desert. The outstanding menu and prices definitely make it worth a try.
Perfect for: cozy drinking, dining and hanging out with special friends. Joy Bar and Restaurant Add: 345 Wuning Nan Lu Tel: 021-6230-2015 |
