Decent tapas at Zoco

The Spanish Omelette with Potatoes and Chorizo Served with Garlic Sauce was tasty except the egg and potato flavor overpowered the desirable and usually potent flavor of the Chorizo. I could not find fault, however, with the Sauté of Clams with White Wine, Garlic, Cilantro and Butter Crouton. When the clams were finished, the remainder made for a good dipping sauce. The Grilled Scallops with Fresh Tomatoes and Pine nuts were very tender and deliciously flavored.

My only concern thus far was the size of the portions and if you're eating for sustenance rather than flavor, I would advise ordering some cut meat and bread with the tapas, or investigating Zoco's inventive dessert menu. Desserts are between 48 and 58rmb and there are a few unusual dishes, such as the Wild Berries with Hibiscus Soda and Mint Granite. This dish was sweet and light with a satisfying sherberty kick to it. I also went for the Mascapone Cheesecake, Mixed Wild Berries and Balsamic Vinegar Ice Cream. I expected a cheese 'cake,' but what arrived was a light, fluffy whisk of Mascarpone and cream with chunks of sprinkled biscuit and berries pieces. And a scoop of curiously enjoyable Balsamic Vinegar Ice Cream.

Zoco's offers a pleasurable dinning experience, serving flavorful tapas in a laid-back and cozy atmosphere. There is enough singularity and variety on the menu to keep you in anticipation of the next dish, without the successive plates of tapas blending into each other and becoming forgettable. The next time I'm in the mood for comfortable and enjoyable, hassle-free dining, Zoco's will definately be at the top of my list.
