Double the flavor, portion and funBy Megan Zaroda (thatsbj.com)
Updated: 2008-03-26 16:45 Don't let the illuminated images of human fornication flanking the kitchen distract you from what it serves up. This restaurant’s fusion fare lives up to its name-double (the taste), double (the portion). The menu draws from the flavor palate of Singaporean, Taiwanese, and Shanghai cuisines. The recommended Hainan chicken (thin slices of cold chicken with chili and soy dips, RMB 40) was a fine start to the meal, even if the ketchup and pepper condiments served with the oily deep-fried shrimp roll (RMB 25) were a disappointment. However, the sweet yet savory flavor of the barley beef ribs (RMB 68) was fantastic, only to be topped by the subtle piquancy of the clay pot vegetable curry (RMB 35). While you can order small or large for many dishes, the smaller portion is likely to be enough to satisfy. And after dinner, you can meander downstairs for some late-night drinks and karaoke.
