A rising starBy Susan D. (localnoodles.com)
Updated: 2008-04-29 11:47 Just went last night - it's a little hard to find the new place because it's still under construction. But it's much nicer than the previous Saddle. There's a great big patio overlooking a currently empty courtyard. The air was brisk last night but it was still pleasant to sit outside with our coats on and enjoy many margaritas. The menu is "Mexican." I say that because it's more like the Americanized Mexican food I've grown up with. This is not a complaint, just a warning to actual Mexicans. Saddle has the oversized burritos that I enjoy from Rickshaw. My only complaint was that there are no quesadillas - my mainstay meal in the US. But Phoebe the manager said they would probably be adding them after many requests. We also got the chile con queso, which was a little bland, and the guacamole, which seemed fresh but could have used a bit more garlic. My friend got the big salad (ensalada mixta) which was a yummy combination of fresh veggies, including peas (I love peas). I got the enchiladas which had lots of cheese (I love cheese). I washed it all down with a banana margarita - made with real bananas. It was probably too sweet to accompany the meal but it tasted really good. Service was very attentive, possibly because we were the only people on the patio. I have a feeling this place is going to be very popular as it gets warmer. They have several daily specials, including the cleverly named "Cinco de Drinko" (drink specials on the 5th of each month). Saddle |
