Alignment of Earth, sun, moon to cause tidal surge
GUANGZHOU: More rain, coupled with a rising river, pose a grave flooding threat to Guangdong province from today to Saturday.
The water level of the Pearl River will reach its peak during the period, astronomers and weather forecasters in the province said.
"The peak will be 2 meters higher than the Pearl River's embankment on Thursday and Friday, but it will significantly subside on Sunday," Li Jianji, a director of the Guangdong astronomy association, told China Daily yesterday.
