US Senate approves India nuclear deal
India's ruling Congress party yesterday hailed US approval of a historic nuclear trade deal that removed the final legislative hurdle for resumption of civilian nuclear trade between the two countries, which critics say will non-proliferation.
The US Congress voted in favor of the deal ending a three-decade ban on US nuclear trade with India.
"This is unprecedented, its historic," said Abhishek Manu Singhvi, a spokesman for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Congress party.
