Agriculture subsidies and the minimum purchase price of grains will be raised next year, the country's top economic planner said yesterday.

The move follows a policy document unveiled earlier this month that pledges a rise in agriculture production and an increase in rural residents' incomes.

The government will increase the minimum purchase price for wheat by as much as 15.3 percent to 1.74 yuan/kg next year, the National Development and Reform Commission said on its website, adding that rice prices will also go up.
