Mainland's top envoy invited to Taiwan for talks

Chiang Pin-kung, chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation, said yesterday that his organization has asked the mainland's top envoy Chen Yunlin to visit the island on Nov 3 for cross-Straits talks. Chen, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, is expected to pay a five-day visit to Taiwan to discuss issues ranging from chartered flights and air and sea links to postal service and food safety. It will be the first visit of Chen to the island.
