Chinese firm on protecting territory
Comment on "China firm on border issue: Qin" (China Daily, Nov 12)
Chinese people will safeguard their territory at all costs. China is no longer the weak country of the Qing dynasty more than 100 years ago.
Chinese people love peace, and will never step into others' land even if China becomes stronger. But it is impossible for Chinese people to endure any invasion and occupation of our holy territory.

Chen deserves punishment
Comment on "Taiwan's Chen Shui-bian formally detained" (China Daily website, Nov 12)
Chen Shui-bian is always happy - happy to show off his new iron "bracelets" for money laundering. He was happy to show off his stomach wounds when he stole the election in 2004.
Will he be the same happy man when singing with the birds in an iron cage? We will see.

In the eight years when he was in power, Chen created more trouble than fortune for the people in Taiwan. It's possible that the money under investigation ended up in his or his relatives' accounts. Now he deserves it.

Owning a house still a dream
Comment on "Property price growth hits two-year low" (China Daily, Nov 12)
Although the statistics show the real estate price declined, I did not see any real drop in Hangzhou.
The housing prices remain high, especially in downtown. Most people cannot afford it and have to wait. Now that the local government has announced 24 policies to save the real estate industry, we are afraid the house price will rise again.

Global treasure
Comment on "Harmonious society" (China Daily, Nov 3)
I had the good fortune to meet Phil Morrison and Keith Williams in China in 2001. I was staying at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Shanghai, where they were playing and I would listen to their music in the lounge every night I was there.
Their music was genuine jazz to be sure, but the focus was on playing music that communicated to the people. And it did! Their music is a unique combination of international influences, which capture the attention and excite the imagination from the first note.
Since that time I have gotten to know Phil and Keith as sincere and passionate humanitarians - in addition to being professional musicians of the highest caliber in the jazz genre.
In my opinion they are a global treasure with their positive message of international harmony through music. Their work in achieving this goal permeates every composition and each performance.
