Beijing to power up with 7 billion yuan

Beijing plans to invest 7 billion yuan on power network construction by the end of 2010, according to the municipal commission of development and reform.

The municipal government has invested 400 million yuan on building power transmission lines this year, and local power companies have invested 2.8 billion yuan, said Luo Yong, deputy director of the electric power management department under the commission.

Compared with 2005, the city's power transmission capacity has seen a rise of 25 percent.
