Thunder acquire center Chandler from Hornets

NEW YORK: The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired center Tyson Chandler from the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday in exchange for Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox.

Selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the second overall pick in the 2001 draft, Chandler was averaging 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this season with the Hornets.

Since jumping from high school directly into the NBA, the 7-foot-1 (2.16m) center has averaged 8.2 points and nine rebounds in eight seasons including five with the Chicago Bulls.
