Blue chips drag stock market lower by 3.39%
The mainland stocks fell sharply yesterday as nervousness about upcoming economic data caused investors to take profits in a wide range of financial and industrial blue chips that led the market up last week.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which gained 5.29 percent last week, ended down 3.39 percent at 2118.748 points in active trade.
Turnover in Shanghai A shares remained active at 103.5 billion yuan against Friday's 105.2 billion yuan.
