Qingdao will spare no effort to make the country's first international sea spectacular to mark the 60th anniversary of Chinese Navy a huge success, its mayor vowed yesterday.

Fleets from 30 nations across the globe will converge on the city's shores in Shandong province for the "Harmonious Ocean" parade on April 23, which will be only the fourth of its kind in China.

Details of the parade are still under wraps but mayor Xia Geng yesterday told China Daily: "The city is well equipped with every facility to make this a successful parade."
