Shares end higher on commodity rally

The mainland stocks gained to the highest in 10 months as commodity producers climbed on rising oil and metal prices, while shipbuilders advanced on government measures to aid the industry.

Stocks also advanced as consumer prices fell for a fourth month, making it easier for the government to maintain its "moderately loose" monetary policy to revive the economy.

"Buying momentum is still strong as more signs point to a clear recovery of the economy," said Wu Kan, a Shanghai-based fund manager at Dazhong Insurance Co, which manages about $285 million.
