GUANGZHOU: The local procuratorate has approved the arrests of two suspects who sold personal information collected from clients of a telecommunications company, an official said yesterday.

It's the first such case in Gunagzhou since the Criminal Law included the prohibition at the end of February.

"The arrest approval, the first of its kind in Guangzhou, shows the government's determination to crack down on the illegal activity of leaking personal information," Liang Shengqiang, an official with the Guangzhou People's Procuratorate, told China Daily yesterday.
