WWII US Army uniforms fascinate Hong Kong collector

China Daily | Updated: 2009-07-28 08:13

Asked about his decision to concentrate mainly on collecting uniforms and memorabilia from the US Army, Hong Kong collector Chan Wing-hang said it had to do with reasons both emotional and practical.

Some of the most popular World War II movies are Hollywood blockbusters featuring the trials and triumphs of US soldiers, he says. Besides, the fact that the Allied Countries had won the war means that most of their side of the history got preserved.

Chan's store, Airborne Military Surplus, is named after the US Army's legendary 82nd Airborne Division, an elite infantry division that participated in the Invasion of Normandy.
