Experts worry about Afghan instability

Afghanistan's unstable situation threatens the development of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the interests of its members, a Chinese expert warned.

Afghanistan's instability will impact border security and social stability of SCO members, Sun Zhuangzhi, a senior researcher in Central Asian studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), wrote in an article.

The country has been the habitat of terrorists, including separatists from Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Sun said.
