1st H1N1 death on mainland

LHASA: The Chinese mainland reported its first A/H1N1 influenza death yesterday, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on its website.

An 18-year-old woman in Maizhokunggar county of Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, died of the illness at 3:20 am on Sunday in a local hospital. She was taken to the hospital on Saturday after suffering from coughs, sore throat and muscular stiffness.

The Chinese mainland had reported 21,453 confirmed cases of A/H1N1 influenza by yesterday, about 78.7 percent of which had recovered, according to the ministry.
