China Daily | Updated: 2009-11-04 08:23

Police in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have launched a "strike hard" security campaign to wipe out lawlessness and continue to hunt for suspects who took part in the deadly riots in the capital Urumqi four months ago.

The campaign, which continues to the end of the year, will focus on cases related to the July 5 riots, which killed 197 people, the regional public security bureau said yesterday.

Police will continue the manhunt for suspects connected to the riots. Meanwhile, police will "keep a close eye on clues and cases involving terrorism and explosions", the statement said.
