Experiences of Chinese in UK
Experiences of Chinese in UK
Many students come to study in England, and often get a part-time job to supplement the high living costs. In two instances, my Chinese friends have been let down by employers who either refused to pay them or delayed payment unduly.
In both cases when I learned about this I was incensed and felt ashamed as an Englishman that this was happening in my country. So I contacted a lawyer friend of mine and he advised me to file a County Court Judgment (CCJ) against the employers. This took a little time, but in due course, judgment was obtained against the employers and I was very happy when a check in the full amount (approximately 180 pounds) was paid to the student. After this, we celebrated by going to a Chinese restaurant.
