Suicide attack targets Pak intelligence unit

Car bombing during rush hour in Lahore claims 12 lives, injures 65; nearly 600 kg of explosives used

LAHORE, Pakistan - A suicide car bomb attack on a police intelligence unit in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore killed at least 12 people and wounded about 65 during Monday's morning rush hour, officials said.

The attack outside a federal police office bore all the hallmarks of an operation by Al-Qaida-backed Pakistani Taliban militants seeking to topple the government.
