Police suspend plate registration to hunt scalpers

Beijing's traffic authority closed its entire license and vehicle registration system starting Friday due to rampant black market trade in license plate numbers at several registration centers in the city.

Beijing traffic management bureau announced late Thursday that all driving license and vehicle registration offices, including online registration centers, would be closed from 5 pm Friday for immediate checks.

The suspension will end Monday afternoon, the authority said in a special statement posted on its official website.
