Traditional clothing still in fashion

Saudi clothing has changed little over the centuries. Multiple layers work to conserve body moisture and shield skin from the strong Middle Eastern sun.
Face veils and head cloths prevent the inhalation of sand, acting much like camels' thick eyelashes and flexible nostrils.
Women's gowns feature elegant designs made from cotton, wool, silk, satin and chiffon. They are often richly embroidered with bold geometric patterns, and have silver bells at the wrists.
