Highlights of Sino-US joint statement

The two leaders recognize that the relationship is both vital and complex. China and the US have set an example of positive relations between countries, despite different political systems, historical and cultural backgrounds, and levels of economic development.

The US reiterated that it welcomes a strong, prosperous and successful China that plays a greater global role.

Each country and its people have the right to choose their own path, and should respect each other's development model.
