GUANGZHOU - Liu Yongzhuo, chairman of Chinese Super League (CSL) club Guangzhou Evergrande, displayed the team's continuing drive to introduce more world-class foreign players to its lineup after welcoming long-waited Argentinian soccer star Dario Conca on Tuesday.

The Cantonese club, which twice smashed the country's transfer record by bringing in Brazilian players Muriqui and Cleo last year, upped the numbers again by paying $10 million to Brazilian club Fluminense for its captain.

The 28-year-old Argentinian midfielder, who was named the best player of the Brasileiro in 2009 and 2010, has signed a 3 1/2-year contract with Guangzhou and will be paid $7 million a year, which makes him one of the world's highest-paid players.
