The Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China has held a meeting to solicit opinions from members of non-communist political parties on the draft report for the 18th Party Congress, according to a statement made public on Monday.

While presiding over the meeting, which was held on Sept 3, President Hu Jintao stressed that the country is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges, as the international situation is experiencing deep and complicated changes and the country's missions concerning reform, development and stability are becoming more arduous.

"We must make use of these opportunities and cope with challenges vigorously and effectively," Hu said.
