After getting the approval of the State Council to cut and streamline administrative verifications and approvals, Guangdong is striving to become a leading province in terms of service efficiency, low administrative costs and transparent approval procedures.

Guangdong was handpicked by the State Council to serve as a pilot region for the reforms in August because of the maturity of its market economy.

The province will abolish 66 types of administrative approval requirements and place 16 under the control of subordinate city or county governments. It will acquire new approval authority from the central government with the blessing of the State Council.
