Tangshan, a major engine for growth in Hebei province, is accelerating development on the basis of advantages in terms of location and resources, according to the local government.

The city, located in the northern part of Hebei province, is the main production area of charred coal, and it is also one of China's three bases that supply raw materials for steel production.

Its abundant resources formed the foundation for a thriving economy long ago.
