A total of 20 university students' art works were sold in the Shangri-La Hotel, Changchun, on Nov 28, to start the hotel's series of charity Christmas events to "enlighten dreams".

Drawings and handcrafted works, designed by English major students from Jilin University, were sold in a silent auction that raised about 8,000 yuan ($ 1,333) for students to subscribe to China Daily newspaper in 2015.

"I read China Daily as a supplement material to learn English," says Gong Fengzhi, a freshman majoring in English literature at the school.
