Lampard vs Gerrard showdown set

Steven Gerrard's Los Angeles Galaxy and Frank Lampard's New York City FC are set for an Aug 23 showdown in California.

The two English stars, both planning on departing Premier League sides to join Major League Soccer teams later this year, will meet only once in the MLS regular season, which kicks off on March 6 and concludes on Oct 25.

The defending champion Galaxy, seeking a fourth title in five seasons, plays host to the Chicago Fire in the seas on opener. The next day will see six other match ups while March 8 marks the debut of two new MLS teams when Orlando will host New York City, the club backed by Manchester City and the New York Yankees.
