Nepalese riot police were sent in on Wednesday to quell crowds of earthquake survivors angered when buses promised by the government failed to materialize.

With supplies running thin and aftershocks, nerves are starting to be strained in the ruined capital of Kathmandu.

Desperate to leave, thousands of people began gathering before dawn outside the main bus station after the government promised to lay on special services.
