Private enterprises continue to dig deep to help those battling poverty and illness

The birth of 23-year-old Luo Guofang's son was a bitter-sweet experience, because just four days later the young mother was diagnosed with leukemia in November 2013.

With a family income of just 4,000 yuan ($645) a month, the garment factory worker from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, said she was helpless, facing hundreds of thousands in treatment expenses.
