NBA and ministry build court at Shanghai landmark

The NBA and the Ministry of Education of China announced plans to build a NBA-style outdoor basketball court at the landmark Oriental Pearl Tower Square in Shanghai, taking basketball and the NBA logo to arguably the most popular cultural and scenic site of China's financial hub.

The announcement was made on Saturday in conjunction with the Oriental Pearl Group at the ground-breaking ceremony for the court, which was attended by executives from NBA China, the Ministry of Education, the Oriental Pearl Group and the Shanghai Sports Bureau.

The NBA also hosted a basketball clinic at the Oriental Pearl Tower Square for children from the NBA Yao Basketball Club and Shanghai Violet Migrant School.
