ROK demands DPRK apology, restarts its loudspeakers on border

The Republic of Korea demanded an apology from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Tuesday as the ROK ramped up border security following landmine blasts it blamed on its northern neighbor.

Seoul says DPRK soldiers sneaked across the border and laid the mines, three of which were tripped by members of a military unit patrolling the border last week. One soldier lost both legs in the explosion, while another soldier lost one leg.

The ROK responded by resuming border propaganda after a break of more than a decade, switching on banks of powerful loudspeakers to blare out messages denouncing border provocations.
