Spending big on world stage will not help rejuvenate the game, say insiders

Observers have warned Chinese soccer clubs to focus on investing in young talent rather than buying up big names if they want to ensure long-term success.

Clubs from the Chinese Super League, the country's top tier of competition, dominated the international transfer market in January with total spending exceeding 969 million yuan ($147 million), according to sports website goal.com.
