10,000 people flee to evacuation centers; at least 14 people have been injured by tremor

A magnitude-7.4 earthquake, which struck near Fukushima at about 6 am on Tuesday, caused a cooling system for the spent fuel at Fukushima No 2 nuclear power plant to temporarily halt, according to the plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co.

It reactivated the system after 90 minutes and reported only small temperature increases, within safety limits.
