Trade stays vital, says USCBC chief
Bilateral trade and investment remain a source of stability for China-US relations, and are worth great attention by both sides, said John Frisbie, president of the US-China Business Council.
Trade between the two countries surged from $2.5 billion in 1979 to $519.6 billion in 2016, an increase of 211 times, according to data from China's Ministry of Commerce.
Bilateral investment also witnessed similar booming increases over the past 38 years. By the end of 2016, bilateral investment accumulated to more than $170 billion.
